There is a common misconception that dentists would avoid all kind of desserts and cariogenic food. Well I can't say about all the dentists but I have a sweet tooth. My friend posted this recipe of banoffee pie. It seemed tempting but I am not so fond of bananas. So, I created this twisted version of banoffee pie, instead of bananas I used pineapples.
Pineapple banoffee trifle is basically comprised of four layerrs. Biscuit layer, toffee layer, whip cream layer and lastly the pineapple layer. Every bite of this trifle will stimulate all the nerve endings of your tongue. Its easy and quick to make for any occasion.
Don't forget to brush your teeth after having such a munchy crunchy dessert. Sticky toffee makes you prone to cavities. Enjoy the dessert and also take care of your teeth :)
Ingredients
- 70g unsalted butter
- 10 tbsp brown sugar
- 1/2 cup sweet condensed milk
- 1 cup tinned pineapple pieces
- 1 cup digestive biscuits
- 2 cups whip cream
- 1/2 cup fresh sliced strawberries
- 6 tbsp of pineapple juice left in tin
Directions
- 1First we will prepare the toffee layer. Take a saucepan. Add butter, brown sugar and condensed milk. Stir the mixture on low heat. Make sure you stir occasionally or else the mixture will get stuck to the pan. Keep it aside and let it cool.
- 2Crush the digestive biscuits with your hand about 1 inch pieces roughly. Take a transparent bowl, add half of the biscuits in a layer. Then pour about 3 tbsp of pineapple juice over the biscuit layer jst to make it little soggy. Your first layer is ready.
- 3For the second layer, pour half the toffee mixture over the biscuits followed by half of whip cream. Whip cream is your third layer.
- 4Then cover the whip cream with pieces of pineapple which will be the fourth layer.
- 5Repeat the four layers again. Garnish the final top layer with pineapple and strawberries. Adding strawberry brings out the vibrant colours to this dish. Keep it in the fridge for an hour or two. Enjoy!
