When it comes to breakfast I always try my best to add as much protein and nutrition in my meal as possible. Some days I go for porridge, other times some pancakes works fine. But once in a while I love to give myself and my family a treat and go for the classic French toast. This usually happens when I have bread storing in the fridge for days. I never waste my food, and French toast seems like the perfect transition you can give your bread.

French toast has a lot of different recipes, some like their French toast sweet, some like it savory, some like to use a lot of herbs and spices and some like it with fruits. My French toast recipe is quite simple and to prepare this you do not have to go for grocery shopping. You can make this with the ingredients from your pantry.

To start off you need to cut your bread into your desired shape. I have cut it in a triangular shape. Sometimes I do my French toast in rectangular as well. You can also keep the bread whole if you preferred.

Get your eggs and whisk them in a bowl until they become fluffy. At this point, you need to add your seasoning. If you want it sweet, add sugar or honey. You can also add maple syrup, agave nectar. If you want it to be savory, then add a pinch of salt and pepper. You can also add paprika, oregano. Some even like to add chopped coriander and mint. Here I have used only salt.

Now take a piece of bread and dip it in the egg mixture. Add butter or oil in the pan. Add the egg-coated bread in the pan and fry them golden brown from both sides. Keep the temperature to medium because you do not want to have burnt French toasts.

If you want your French toast to be a bit soft then you can add 1/3 of milk in the egg mixture. You can also add water instead of the milk. If you are making your French toast sweet, you can also add some grated coconut on a plate. After dipping the bread in the egg mix, coat them in the coconut and fry them golden brown. Your delicious and homemade French toast is ready to relish.
