Beef Nilaga is a recipe here in the Philippines.We usually serve this special recipe on Sundays, rainy days or Christmas which flaunts of many ingredients
Ingredients
- 1/2 kilo Beef Oyster Blade or Chuck rib sliced to match box pcs
- Beef Shank particularly the bone marrow
- 2 medium Red onion diced or just sliced thinly
- 20 pcs pepper corn
- 4-5 pcs sweet potatoes or plain potatoes
- corn cobs (you may use two or more but optional)
- green beans or French beans depends on how much you like at least 5-10 pcs |(optional)
- cabbages (round and quartered or the leafy one or both)
- carrots (optional)
- fish sauce to taste or salt to taste
- 3-4 beef bouillon
Directions
- 1In a casserole, wash the beef and pour water and set to low heat (we would like the pores of the beef to open but if you are in a hurry you might want to set it to medium heat) make sure to remove the scum every now and then. After removing all the scum, throw in the onions and peppercorns
- 2When the beef softens, add the corn cobs. Add more water as needed
- 3After 10 minutes add the sweet potatoes/potatoes and carrots then let it cook for 5 minutes. Throw in the cabbages and french beans. Let cook for 3 more minutes then add the Fish sauce or salt or beef bouillon cubes. Stir a bit until the condiments have mixed themselves with the broth then turn off the fire. Serve hot with a cup of rice
