It’s Fourth of July weekend here in the states and chances are if you’re not hosting a BBQ you’ve been invited to one; either way I have a crowd pleasing adult dessert for you.  I originally got this recipe from my Better Homes and Gardens baking cookbook, but throughout the years I’ve made it my own by adding triple sec and orange juice to it and changing a few other things to my family’s likes and dis likes.

Fourth of July is always celebrated at my sister’s house, it’s well kind of the party house in my family she has the big yard, pool and crazy friends that make it a night to remember, then one night I went over to babysit and my 8-year-old nephew was sick and I went to give him his medicine in one of those little medicine cups when he turns to me and says Hey look at me I’m taking shots like Mommy! Well after I stopped laughing I had to explain to him why not to say that.  I then knew it was time to maybe get a little creative and started adding some alcohol to a few of my desserts, don’t worry my sister has a huge bar in her backyard where she puts all the “adult” stuff and her kids know they aren’t allowed to go near. This recipe is for my Red, White and Blue Trifle I hope you Enjoy!!
