I have written about this chutney in many of my recipes. Green chutney made of fresh coriander and mint leaves is one of the most popular chutney served in Asia with fried items like tikka, pakode and kebabs.

My family loves to have all kinds of chutneys. The dish seems incomplete to them without these tangy colorful dips. Even my daughter who is four has already developed strong taste for it. She first asks me for chutney and then for the main course :)

I will be sharing with you the recipes of many other chutneys. But for now I will begin with the green chutney.

First, take some fresh coriander and mint leaves. Discard the thick stems. Add to the blender followed by cumin seeds, salt, green chili, yogurt and lemon juice.

Blend till it becomes a smooth paste. If you like it more thin, you can add more yogurt. My mother in law adds coconut, almonds and cashew nuts too. I like to keep it simple but you can add these to bring out the flavor.

Its quick and easy to make. Eat with your favorite samosas, kebabs, tikkas and much more. Enjoy!

Ingredients

  • 2 cups coriander leaves
  • 1 cup mint leaves
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1 tsp cumin seeds
  • 2 tbsp yogurt
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 green chili (optional)

Directions

  • 1Blend all the ingredients in a blender till it becomes a smooth paste. You can add green chili if you like to spice up the chutney. Enjoy with your favorite snacks!
