Meatballs cooked in a rich curry are called kofta in Asian cuisine. There are many ways to make koftas and every region has its own special recipe of koftas. My sister in law taught me how to make koftas. I must say its a difficult dish, you will be very lucky if you get it right the time first time. It took me many attempts to get my koftas moist and round. Koftas can be made with beef or chicken but I will be using ground beef. The minced meat you choose should be dry or your koftas willl break while cooking.

Firstly, thinly slice the onion. Fry them till they are golden brown.

Blend it in a food processor till you get a smooth paste. Keep aside.

Take a deep pot, pour oil and blended yogurt. Keep stirring on medium heat or the yogurt will get crumbled. Add all the spices and salt.

Open the lid place a steel strainer, place your meatballs on the strainer. The meatballs will cook with the steam of the curry for about 20 minutes. Some recipes instruct you to fry these meatballs but that makes them hard on the outside and meatballs lose their moisture.
