Lasagne are a type of wide, flat pasta, possibly one of the oldest types of pasta. Lasagne, or the singular lasagna, is an Italian dish made of stacked layers of this flat pasta alternating with fillings such as meat and other vegetables, cheese, and seasonings and spices such as garlic, oregano and basil.
Today I am sharing the recipe of meat lasagna which i regularly make for dinners as my kids love it. I also make the vegetarian version of it too using spinach which also comes out yum. Do try this recipe and enjoy.
- 500gms beef /mutton mince
- 9 lasagne sheets
- Oil 4tbsp
- Onion finely chopped 2 medium
- Garlic finely chopped 5
- Red chili powder 1 tsp
- Cumin powder 1/2tsp
- Pepper powder 1 tsp
- Salt to taste
- Red chili flakes 1 tsp
- Tinned Tomato paste 2 tbsp
- Tomotoes 500 gms
- Oregano 1 tsp
- Butter 2 tbsp
- All purpose flour 2 tbsp
- Milk 1 and half cup
- Pepper powder 1/2 tsp
- Mozzarella cheese 1/2 cup or more
- Red chili flakes sprinkle
- Oregano to sprinkle
- 1Method for the mince preparation;
In a deep pan put oil and fry finely chopped onions till translucent add garlic finely chopped fry for a minute add mince and fry till colour changes add red chili powder , cumin powder , pepper powder, salt 1 tsp, red chilli flakes mix well and stir for 3 mts . Add tomato paste , tomotoes freshly pureed cook for another couple of minutes put oregano mix well and put 1 cup water let it cook for 10 to 15 mts. Your mince is done set aside.
- 2Method for white sauce ;
In a saucepan put butter add maida and fry till fragrant which will take couple of minutes. Add milk and whisk well to avoid lumps add salt and pepper stir for a couple of hours till thick. Your white sauce is done set aside.
- 3Take a large pan with water boil it add salt and few drops of oil now add the lasagne sheets and let it cook till done drain it .
Take a baking tray or a ovenproof dish first put some cooked mince place 2 cooked lasagne sheets in a way they cover your mince fully ( the number of sheets depends upon the width of the tray ) now put the white sauce over it again keep the cooked sheets repeat the same process till your tray is full but not overflowing. I used 2 trays one small and and medium. Now the last layer is the mozzarella cheese layer which you will spread evenly all over. Now sprinkle red chili flakes and oregano.
- 5Now pre heat the oven for 5 mts at 180 c and place these trays and bake it for 20 mts or till the cheese is melted.
Tip; you can make this ahead and bake till half an hour before serving.
