This dish is called Keri kolmi no patio which basically means prawn mango curry. The Parsi Patio at its very basic is a sweet, sour and slightly spicy seafood with a unique taste. As mangoes are in season I thought of posting this sweet and sour dish to be enjoyed by all of you other than our usual food. Many of you might be a little hesitant to try ripe mangoes with prawns like I did too when I tried first but believe me it's worth giving a try so that you can enjoy other cuisines too. This dish is usually served with a simple Khichdi or steam rice.

Ingredients

  • Fully Ripe Mango 300 gms (I.e one large )
  • Onions chopped 2 medium
  • Green chillies 2
  • Garlic cloves 4
  • Red chili powder 1 and 1/2 tsp
  • Turmeric powder 1/2tsp
  • Cumin powder 1 tsp
  • Coriander powder 1 tsp
  • Sugar 2 tsp or less
  • Vinegar 5 tbsp
  • Salt to taste
  • Prawns 500 gms
  • Coriander leaves to garnish
  • Oil 4 tbsp

Directions

  • 1Devein and wash the prawns well. Marinate the prawns in red chilli, turmeric, cumin , coriander powders and salt.
  • 2In a pan heat oil add onions and fry till light golden . Meanwhile grind the garlic and green chilli with a little water and add this paste into the onions fry for some time . Chop the fully riped mango into big cubes . Now add the mangoes along with seeds in the onion paste stir it well . Now add marinated prawns , vinegar and sugar fry for couple of minutes add some water at this stage now . cook for 5 mts covered . Adjust the seasoning . This gravy is supposed to be thick.
