Sesame when mixed with groundnut, offers an exotic flavor. Brinjal smashes well with sesame and groundnut, and becomes a rich paste. It is an excellent side dish for biriyani, pulao and even plain rice.  

Ingredients

  • Brinjal - 250 gms
  • Onion - 1 no
  • Tomato - 1 no
  • Curry leaves - to flavor
  • Sesame seeds - 1.5 teaspoon
  • Ground nut - 2 teaspoon
  • Pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Tamarind juice - 2 tablespoon (thick juice)
  • Turmeric powder - 1/4 teaspoon
  • Chilli Powder - 1 teaspoon
  • Oil - 2 tablespoon
  • Salt - to taste

Directions

  • 1Heat oil and add pepper, 1/2 teaspoon sesame seeds and curry leaves.
  • 2After they pop up, add onion and fry till it turns golden brown.
  • 3Now add tomato and allow it to cook, so that it gets smashed easily.
  • 4It is time to add chopped brinjal (cut it lengthwise into 4 pieces) and allow it to get toasted for a minute.
  • 5Add turmeric powder, chilli powder and tamarind juice. Grind the groundnut and 1 teaspoon of sesame seeds in to a fine paste. Add the paste to the curry and sprinkle some water.
  • 6Let it cook for 5 minutes and the dish is ready to serve.
