Ingredients
- 500g all purpose flour
- 90g butter
- 3 cloves
- 1/2 of a large onion
- 1 tsp nutmeg
- 1 tsp salt
- Oil for frying
- 1 cup water
Directions
- 1In a mixing bowl add flour, nutmeg, salt and butter and mix till all is combined
- 2Blend the cloves and onion with the water
- 3Add the blended mixture bit by bit to the flour enough to form a hard dough like bread dough ( is okay if you still have leftover)
- 4Part the dough in four parts, cover for 20 minutes
- 5Knead each part and use a rolling pin to flatten the dough till 0.5 cm thick
- 6Use a knife or pizza cutter to cut the dough in long strips and 2.5 to 3 cm wide
- 7Cut strips in 1 cm diagonal
- 8Heat the oil for frying
- 9Fry it using a fork to separate it from sticking
- 10Fry till golden brown and when done frying remove and place it on a paper towel to get rid of the excess oil.
- 11Alow to cool and enjoy with cold chilled drink
