Ingredients

  • 500g all purpose flour
  • 90g butter
  • 3 cloves
  • 1/2 of a large onion
  • 1 tsp nutmeg
  • 1 tsp salt
  • Oil for frying
  • 1 cup water

Directions

  • 1In a mixing bowl add flour, nutmeg, salt and butter and mix till all is combined
  • 2Blend the cloves and onion with the water
  • 3Add the blended mixture bit by bit to the flour enough to form a hard dough like bread dough ( is okay if you still have leftover)
  • 4Part the dough in four parts, cover for 20 minutes
  • 5Knead each part and use a rolling pin to flatten the dough till 0.5 cm thick
  • 6Use a knife or pizza cutter to cut the dough in long strips and 2.5 to 3 cm wide
  • 7Cut strips in 1 cm diagonal
  • 8Heat the oil for frying
  • 9Fry it using a fork to separate it from sticking
  • 10Fry till golden brown and when done frying remove and place it on a paper towel to get rid of the excess oil.
  • 11Alow to cool and enjoy with cold chilled drink
