Ingredients

  • 400g lean beef mince
  • 1 red, yellow and green bell pepper chopped
  • 1 large onion finely chopped
  • 2-3 carrots chopped in (thick brunois)
  • 1 jar of plain spaghetti sauce
  • 1 can of diced tomatoes (you can also use 3 fresh ones)
  • 4 tbsp olive oil
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • BECHAMEL SAUCE OR WHITE SAUCE INGREDIENTS
  • ¾ l milk, 50g butter, 60g flour and nutmeg
  • 400 g ground cheese

Directions

  • 1Add the olive oil into a pot then add the ground beef and when it's almost brown add the chopped vegetables mix and cover it stirring occasionally for about 10 minutes
  • 2Add the plain spaghetti sauce and the diced tomatoes, salt and pepper stir and let it simmer under closed lid stirring occasionally on low heat
  • 3Preheat the oven 200C
  • 4BECHAMEL SAUCE OR WHITE SAUCE
  • 5Warm the milk in a separate saucepan or in the microwave until warm to the touch and set aside
  • 6Melt the butter and add the flour in a pot. Keep stirring constantly until the paste cooks and bubbles a bit, but don't let it brown
  • 7Pour in just a little of the hot milk, just enough to moisten the flour and butter mixture. Keep stirring to loosen up the thick flour mixture
  • 8Now take a whisk and gradually add the rest of the milk to the loosened flour mixture while whisking constantly.
  • 9Cook on low heat and keep stirring constantly until it to bubble and thicken. You will have a thick, creamy sauce. You can add 3 part the cheese then add salt, nutmeg to taste
  • 10Take an oven dish spread some bechamel sauce at the bottom and top with layers of lasagna,then spread bechamel sauce over and some tomato sauce then continue to repeat layers. Finish it with the white sauce. Sprinkle with cheese and bake it.
  • 11Bake it for 1 hour or until heated through.
